- Former Mobilitie CEO Christos Karmis takes over as Boldyn global CEO
- He replaces former CEO Igor Leprince
- Karmis has overseen a period of substantial expansion across the business
Global neutral host provider and private networking integrator Boldyn has appointed its United States chief Christos Karmis as its global group CEO, taking over from Igor Leprince.
Karmis has overseen substantial business expansion during his current tenure as CEO of the U.S. unit, Boldyn said in a statement. "He will continue to lead the company’s largest and fastest-growing market while also stepping into the global leadership role," the company said.
Leprince will remain with the business until the end of March to support the transition with Christos and ensure continuity for customers, partners, and employees, Boldyn said. Leprince has been CEO at Boldyn for nearly 6 years, coming from subway connectivity company Transit Wireless, which Boldyn acquired.
Karmis was CEO of startup Mobilitie, which was also acquired by Boldyn. Mobilitie (or BAI Communications, as it was known at the time) handled subway connectivity for the BART transit system in the Bay Area. That BART connectivity is now being done by Boldyn.
Karmis said at the time of the Boldyn name change: “I think there’s a ton of reasons why that makes sense,” and quipped that “thankfully, it’s easier for people to pronounce than Mobilitie was.”
