KRUK achieves IT consistency across Europe and 66% faster processing with Red Hat

Warsaw - — Red Hat, Inc., the world’s leading provider of open source solutions, today announced that KRUK S.A., a leading Polish debt management company with operations across Europe, has modernized its core systems and application infrastructure using Red Hat’s open hybrid cloud technologies. With Red Hat OpenShiftRed Hat Ansible Automation Platform and Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security for Kubernetes, KRUK has built a unified, scalable and more secure platform that allows its more than 20 development teams to deploy new services consistently across multiple markets, reducing batch processing time by two-thirds and cutting IT operations from days to hours.

Operating in a highly regulated financial sector, KRUK faced the challenge of modernizing a 20-year-old monolithic core system and a diverse landscape of IT environments across different countries. This inconsistency and complexity led to high maintenance costs, slow delivery cycles and hampered the company’s agility in responding to market and regulatory demands. KRUK's modernization program, 'New Horizon,' sought a standardized, cloud-native IT foundation to  enable scalability, compliance and repeatability of deployments while maintaining strict security and data protection standards.

Building a standardized and automated platform

Working with Red Hat and long-time partner ESKOM, KRUK designed and implemented a modern application platform built on Red Hat OpenShift, the industry’s leading hybrid cloud application platform powered by Kubernetes and Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform. The company introduced a multi-cluster architecture with centralized management, and advanced security controls, improving the integrity of its software supply chain and freeing IT teams from repetitive maintenance tasks. With Red Hat technologies, KRUK has:

  • Unified development and operations across multiple European markets (Poland, Romania, Spain, and Italy) within a single ecosystem;
  • Reduced IT maintenance and configuration time from days to hours;
  • Accelerated batch processing from six to two hours;
  • Shortened document pre-processing from over ten to under six seconds per page;
  • Strengthened compliance and security through centralized policy and supply chain management;
  • Reduced the time required to deploy new services - from months to weeks;
  • Fostered a cultural shift toward DevOps and platform engineering.

Preparing for a hybrid cloud and AI future

By adopting Red Hat’s open hybrid cloud approach, KRUK is laying the groundwork for continued expansion and innovation. The organization is developing its hybrid platform to combine the reliability of its own on-premises infrastructure with the flexibility of the public cloud, maintaining control over data and operations while preparing for future growth. As part of this evolution, KRUK is also investing in new capabilities around artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to deliver more data-driven digital services for its customers.

Another key goal is to continue increasing the autonomy of development teams and accelerating business innovation, while maintaining high levels of security and regulatory compliance. Red Hat solutions remain at the foundation of this development, enabling the smooth expansion of the platform to other countries and areas of the KRUK Group’s operations.
